Examining which categories have seen the biggest growth in listings in ASDA over the last 3 months, and which ones have gone from A-list to De-list.
Every year, thousands of new products are launched into the FMCG market. In Asda there have been over 1,100 new listings in the last 3 months alone (from 11th June to 9th September).
Among the 25 largest categories in Asda, the one with the highest percentage of its products being made up by new listings during this period was Wash and Care with 21%. Although the Crisps category had a very similar proportion of its range made up of new listings (20%), only 3% of its range was delisted, as a result we have seen Crisps to be the category which has seen the largest increase in range over this time. We have seen this increase in Crisp SKUs come into place in July and August with a very similar trend occurring at the same time last year. Over the rest of the year the number of lines stocked has remained relatively static.
The vast majority of categories have seen a growth in the number of products stocked with 20 of the 25 largest categories in Asda increasing in size over the last 3 months. The chart below highlights which of these categories have seen the largest increase and decrease in listings in Asda over this time.
